My name is Jane O'Brien. I am a fourth grade teacher at the McCarthy School in Peabody, MA. This is my eighth year as a full-time teacher. For my first three years at McCarthy I taught first grade. For the 2013-2014 school year I was moved to fourth grade.
I am a second career teacher. My first career out of college was in the financial industry for 8 years. After having my first son, I was fortunate enough to be home full-time with my children for 10 years, when I decided to go back to school to get a Masters in Education. I received my undergraduate degree (a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration) from Providence College and my M.Ed. in Elementary Education from Lesley University. From February 2017-June 2018 I worked to receive a second M.Ed in Curriculum and Instruction from American College Of Education. I am thrilled to use all I have learned to continually improve my practice.
I am the proud mother of two teenage sons and have been happily married to my college sweetheart for over 20 years. I enjoy biking, reading, traveling and cooking.
It is a pleasure working with wonderful teachers, families and students at the McCarthy School. I feel very lucky to have become an integral member of the McCarthy community.
