We are currently learning about the West Region of our country and will be working on social studies' projects for the remainder of the year. We are studying perpendicular and parallel lines as well as area and perimeter in math these days and are learning how to write persuasively. Our Journeys story has introduced students to Cesar Chavez and all of his work with helping migrant workers receive fair wages and treatment. It was an inspiring story for the students. Please tell me how you feel about heading to fifth grade.

I wish all McCarthy Families a Happy Thanksgiving and am so thankful to be part of this wonderful community. Remember to thank your families and friends for all they do. They are an important part of your success in school.
Please write about your plans to celebrate Thanksgiving. Where will you go? Are you staying home? What will you have to eat? What are some of your family traditions?
It is Labor Day and we have kicked off the 2015-2016 to a great start. The students are fantastic and trying to keep cool:) I would like to know what you have enjoyed or maybe not enjoyed your first week of fourth grade.
Please comment freely as I am always interested in improving. I would love to hear from students in my class about how they are feeling about starting their last month of fourth grade. Now that ELA MCAS is over please tell me how you felt about it. Please let me know either good or bad feelings. If it was hard for you what made it hard? If you thought it was easy explain why? I would love to hear your feedback about this topic. Thanks Gigi for your comment that helps me better understand how you were feeling about it and I could see why the second day was easier for you.
Since we have had so many snow days I would like to hear from any or all of the students in 201 about how you like to spend your day when school is cancelled. Give lots of specific details. I can't wait to hear:)
The class got to learn about Harriet Tubman this week as an actor came into school and skillfully portrayed her life. As a slave who took many risks to save other slaves Harriet led a heroic and admirable life. Please tell me about a person whom you admire and why.
